An 8 year long dream of renovating is becoming a reality.
This home began like many homes in the Sutherland Shire; a small, single-storey, post war, fibro-clad cottage, in a standard issue custard colour with a tiled roof. As with many other families, it didn’t take long to outgrow the existing house. The owners wanted to expand and update the tired interiors. Knocking down and rebuilding was an option, however it would have been more costly and seen the family displaced for a longer period of time. The decision was made to renovate and extend the existing dwelling.
This house is receiving a second storey addition and is currently being completely gutted and renovated inside and out. A new Monument Colorbond roof has been installed and fresh new weatherboards painted in Dulux Tranquil Retreat. The bathrooms are midway through construction, with tiles selected from local supplier Tile Bazaar.
The owners enlisted the help of Sarah Yarrow, Interior Designer, to assist in selecting flooring, furnishings and kitchen design. Being a large family with pets, thought and consideration has gone into the design and material selection to ensure its suitability for the family’s lifestyle.
This is a project currently under construction. It’s starting to take shape. The family are looking forward to being in their new home. The beautifully renovated facade has already enhanced the Como streetscape. Stay tuned for more updates on the blog and on Instagram.
