PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project on Dolans Road in Woolooware is a Torrens Title duplex. Designed by the reputable Jamisa Design Architects, the duplex is contemporary/coastal/scandi in style and features high-end finishes throughout. A complete project: dwelling construction, external colour & material selections, interior design and fit-out, landscaping, and project management by Twofold Building Projects. Each side of the duplex is a 3 bedroom home with 4th bedroom/2nd living and 2.5 bathrooms. The properties were sold by Highland Property Agents. This property is also featured on our Instagram page.

Being a duplex, we planned for minimal upkeep. Plenty of research went into sourcing materials that did not require maintenance – particularly in hard to reach places. The timber-look cladding on the building, whilst looking like authentic oak wood, is actually a composite material. Unlike natural timber or some other composite products, it doesn’t need to be oiled or sealed. To match the cladding, we installed oak floorboards with a limewash finish and used an oak-look timber laminate cabinetry in the kitchens and bathrooms.

Another product we scouted for some time was the striking statuario splashback panel in the kitchen and BBQ area. This large-format porcelain panel is thin, durable and the imprint has a very realistic appearance of its natural counterpart. At the time of sourcing, porcelain panels were emerging on the market.  Now, a number of companies are producing the large format panels for application in all sorts of areas including bathroom walls and benchtops – as an alternative to engineered quartz or natural stone/marble.

We developed a unique, innovative stair system where oversized glass panels ran from the first-floor balustrade and integrated into the sawtooth solid oak stair treads below. This was paired with a wide, solid oak handrail with hidden recessed LED strip lighting and matte black standoff bolts to match the hardware other used throughout the house.

Other highlights include the soaring ceilings, lining board, sparkling in-ground pool with swim-out ledge, oak, matte black and white colour scheme, innovative storage areas, creative study nooks, versatile mezzanine room, integrated internal courtyard with built-in bench seating and a blackbutt outdoor shower.
